Inspired by a traditional Argentinian work shoe, TOMS have become a footwear trend for fashion-forward young people here in the U.S. While the lightweight and unique multi-colored prints are part of the appeal, the real draw is the cause. For every pair of shoes purchased TOMS donates a pair, on your behalf, to a child in need. These donations aren’t just corporate tax write-offs either. Led by company founder Blake Mycoskie, TOMS employees and friends actually go to impoverished areas around the world and hand deliver brand new shoes to the people there. You can even sign up to go with them if you want to help, or just go to the site and buy a pair for yourself…and someone in need.
