Yesterday, we wrapped up our discussion of Strength To Love, the first book in the MajorityMag Summer Reading Series, so now we move on the our second selection: The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell.  As we mentioned before, this book is about change; and specifically, like the subtitle says, how little things can make a big difference.  Through looking at questions like “Why did crime drop so dramatically in New York City in the mid 1990’s?” “How does a novel written by an unknown author end up as a national bestseller?” or “Why is word-of-mouth so powerful?” Gladwell explains how ideas, trends, movements and even products behave like epidemics as they spread quickly and unexpectedly.

The book has eight chapters (nine if you include the introduction) so we will read and discuss two per week so we can finish by the end of the month.  Here’s the schedule:

        July 2 - July 9         Introduction - Chapter 2

        July 10 - July 16     Chapter 3 - Chapter 4

        July 17 - July 23     Chapter 5 - Chapter 6

        July 24 - July 31     Chapter 7 - Chapter 8

Even if you didn’t read the first book, we would love to have you be a part.  The Tipping Point is also available on CD so if you prefer, you can go through it that way as well.
