John McCain has selected Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate; making the 44 year-old mother of five, the first female GOP Vice-Presidential candidate, and the first Alaskan on any national ticket.  In making the selection McCain said “She is exactly who this country needs to help fight the same old Washington politics of me first and country second.”

The Palin announcement today, follows a historic close to the DNC last night.  On the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s ”I Have A Dream” speech, Barack Obama delivered a stirring message of his own, and officially accepted the Democratic nomination making him the first African-American to hold that position.

We look forward to a great series of debates coming up this fall.
