Today we wrap up our MajorityMag Summer Reading Series with our final discussion of Dr. Randy Pausch’s book The Last Lecture.  I have to admit that reading the last chapter definitely got me choked up; especially when he talked about writing letters and making videos for his young children so they will be able to know how much he loved them.  I can’t imagine knowing I was going to have to leave my wife and son, but I really admire how Dr. Pausch and his family handled it.  I think one reason why he was able to be so peaceful through the whole thing was that even though he was dying earlier than he should have, he knew that he had lived his life right thus far.  He didn’t seem to have regrets, or wish he’d done things differently. He knew he gave life his best all the way to the end and that’s why so many of his dreams came true.

I think we can all learn a lot from this.  We can’t wait until we’re dying to start living.  The hopes and dreams inside each of us are meant to be shared, but its up to each of us to make the choice to start being the people we want to be right now, not tomorrow.

“If you lead your life the right…the dreams will come to you.”          -Dr. Randy Pausch
