I believe I’ve survived/For a reason/To tell my story, to touch lives.

Taken from his home at the age of 6 and handed a AK-47, Emmanuel Jal was thrust into battle as a “child warrior” for rebel forces in his native Sudan.  By the time he was 13 he was already a veteran of two bloody civil wars, and had seen atrocities  most young people couldn’t even imagine.  After being rescued by a British aid worker, Jal made a commitment to use his talents to help others.  These days, as one of the music industy’s rising stars, Jal is using his unique brand of hip-hop to help children in conflict around the world, donating much of his time and money to support various charitable organizations that focus on child rights.

His latest album War Child is an inspirational autobiography that offers a message of peace and reconcilliation and urges listeners to take action in making that message a reality.
