You see, the recommended rate of compressions for CPR is about 100 beats per minute, and the rhythm of “Stayin’ Alive” is 103 beats per minute. According to a study done by the University of Illinois College of Medicine, participants who listened to the disco hit while practicing CPR, not only performed it perfectly while listening; but also five weeks later, even without the music. I guess the fact that the tune is permanently stuck in all our heads isn’t so bad after all. (See the full story from MSNBC)
