South Africa Update 2

Sorry again that it’s been a few days since we’ve been able to check in.  The internet access has been sparse and I can’t really upload pictures, but we have tons of stories that we will share when we get back. Things have been going great here.  We’ve been able to work with a lot of wonderful people and causes from job creation programs and daycares, to human trafficking and vulnerable children.

Over the last several days I’ve been hanging out a lot with a guy named Walter who lives in Masi.  We’ve been going to visit a woman named Angela who has been diagnosed with HIV and TB.  She had been very sick over the last few months and as a result has basically been stuck in bed.  Recently things have been getting better though and the doctors even told her that the TB is gone!   We’ve just been visiting each day massaging her feet and legs while we talk about stories from our past and hopes for our future.  Walter usually works a full 12-hour shift each day at a nearby gas station, but instead of just relaxing at home when he gets done, he makes time to visit Angela.  Being a part of this experience has really taught me a lot about what it really means to “love your neighbor”.

Well, like I said, there are many more stories that we will share when we have an easier time getting online, but for now I hope everyone has a great Independence Day!

Much Love
