The boys from Bon Jovi are currently on the west coast leg of their “The Circle” tour. And while they continue to sell out big arenas on a nightly basis, they are also making some important stops at a number of homeless shelters and rehab programs along the way. The goal is not only to provide a little joy to the fine folks living in these places, but also to gather info for the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation’s efforts to combat homelessness.
Since 2006 the JBJ Soul Foundation has built over 150 units of affordable housing in seven cities in addition to creating many new programs and partnering with others that address issues related to homelessness and its causes.
Our friend (and Majority Mag contributor) Grace Woo is putting together a Black Tie Ball to raise money for the people of Haiti. If you live in the Seattle area, please join us Saturday February 13th for a fun evening featuring performances from local artists, dance lessons, and desserts. All proceeds will go toward World Vision’s Haiti Relief Efforts.

The team from Improv Everywhere decided to spead a little holiday cheer with their latest surpise stunt. With the help of the bell choir from a local church. they provided some unexpected help to a Salvation Army bell ringer stationed infront of Bloomingdales.

Now Big Mike is playing on Sundays for the Baltimore Ravens and a new movie based on his story is set to hit theaters November 20th. Check out the trailer above.
We are really looking forward to the release of Invictus, the new film from Clint Eastwood that tells the story of Nelson Mandela joining forces with South African rugby team captain Francois Pienaar to unite their country in the wake of apartheid.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters December 11th, so in the meantime, here’s the trailer. Let us know what you think.
Millions of fans world-wide were able to be a part of U2’s 360 show at the Rose Bowl last night thanks to the band’s choice to live stream the concert on its YouTube page. Clearly nothing compares to being at a live show, but with Bono regularly singing right into the stream’s cameras and directly speaking to fans across the globe, web viewers were able to experience something special as well.
As always, the band conveyed a message of peace and unity, including a video message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu saying that “God will put a wind at our backs and a rising road ahead if we work together as one.” If you missed the show, it will be available for viewing on U2’s YouTube page soon, and in the meantime you can check out the LA Times review here.
